Three days before I move
- Spread out the clothes you are planning to take and fasten every zipper, hook, and button.
- Take pants, fold each pair lengthwise; layer them on top of each other; and then fold the entire set over once.
- Layer and roll your shirts by placing them on top of each other, carefully folding the arms across the middle, and then rolling.
- Place each set of folded or rolled clothes into separate dry cleaning bags.
- Begin packing by placing the heaviest clothing on the bottom, with jackets face down. Sweaters and light jackets go next, followed by lightweight items like shirts.
- Tuck socks inside your shoes, put the shoes in plastic bags to prevent them from soiling your clothes, and place them along the sides of the suitcase.
- When you’ve packed everything you’re taking, look at your suitcase. Wrinkling is caused by both under-packing and over-packing, so add or remove items until you have a snug, but not too cramped fit.
- unplug espresso maker, dump water reservoir if necessary, put in box.
- unplug laptop, wrap power cables and velcro
